When to use the -ing form?



Here are some verbs and examples when to use the -ing form:

can't bear        He can't bear listening to jazz.

can't stand       Sara can't stand the smell of petrol.

cease               The company ceased operating in Dubai.

continue          She continues working late every night.

hate                 I hate washing windows.

like                  He doesn't like driving on the highway.

love                 They love going on holiday in winter.

neglect            Harold neglected doing his homework and now he is failing the class.

prefer              The students prefer doing sport to singing.

propose           I propose practicing this form online!

the best way to learn these verb combinations is by practice one by one.
